Chibbi is a Mexican-born, Texas-raised poet, actor, and host, writing and performing since 2006. He is the founder of Laredo BorderSlam, and a founding member of the Houston poetry spot, Write About Now, working as their resident host for the first 3 years. He has self-published 2 books, working primarily with the exploration of identity and culture, his experiences as both Queer and Latino, and fighting for the validity of existence. He was also the co-editor of the anthology Contra: Texas Poets Speak Out (Flowersong Press, 2020). His work has been published in the 2017 Anthology Best Emerging Poets in Texas and the 2020 Latino Book Review Magazine, and has been featured online on We Are Mitú, George Takei, Slam Find, Button Poetry, and Write About Now. He was the 2017 and 2020 San Antonio PuroSlam Champion, and his team won 3rd place at the 2017 National Poetry Slam Group Piece Competition. “Chibbi’s poetry is an event, and those of us fortunate to witness it won’t soon forget it.”
